Reiko Kanasuki Character Discussion

So I just recently read the chapters with this new character and I immediately fell in love with her! I like that she doesn't fit the typical mold of the usual host costumers that they get. She's has all of nekosawa's occult hobbies but she doesn't harbor his abhorrence for the light. One of the things I like about her is that despite her being a 'witch' she still has many qualities that of a heroine. She's bluntly honest and doesn't show a lot of interest in things that direct involve her like haruhi but when comes to something she wants she'll try her hardest (her cursing honey with love spells as a way of showing her affection) She's also oblivious to her own feelings very much like Tamaki.

Despite exhibiting an aura that gives off a scary vibe to others she rather shy and emotionally fragile. I really like that contrast with her outward appearance and her emotional side when with honey. Given from the chapters it seems she shows a lot more emotion whenever she's around honey. We also found out about her issues. That she has very low self esteem and doesn't believe anyone or anything will love her. Her character can really appeal to readers that are outsiders or are 'different'. Those familiar with fruits basket may see that her character is like a combination between Saki Hanajima and her little brother Megumi, that was a master of curses.

Okay my gushing is done now. On to the discussion question: What are your feelings regarding her character? You like her? You dislike her? Do you like her relationship with Honey?

I love reiko-chan!! ^^

I like her because is  super cute in own way. Also, she makes me laugh a lot, especially in the omake where she want an date with hani-senpai  

 Now that I think, she does not had a fanclub, it´s a pity , it would be great if she had one ^^

I absolutely love Reiko-chan! The way she tries to curse Hunny is halairious! She tries really hard and I admire that. She instantly became one of my fave characters, ever since I read the chapter she debuted in. Her relationship with Hunny is so cool because they are polar opposites, which makes reading about them fun. Plus, she's not one of those new arrivals you usually see in anime and manga that have that bubbly girly personality. (Which is another reason I like Ouran, because the girls aren't the traditional girly girls you see in most mangas and anime. I mean the heroin is a tomboy that started out with no hormones, then came Ayanokoji that showed the jelous and obsessive side of a girl, then the confused Kanako, and then the Otaku Renge, then princess Michelle who just wanted recognition. So the girls in Ouran are anything but normal!)

Woah. I drifted away from the topic. My Language arts teacher would be dissapointed...

XxhsakuraxX : Happy to see another Reiko-chan supporter! Yeah it's a shame there isn't one. However, there is a hunny and reiko club so I'm sure discussion on her character since it's so intertwined with honey's would be excepted. 

HikaruIsMINE: She is a unique character alright! I never would have predicted that Hatori would pair happy-go-lucky honey with Neckosawa's morbid successor but strangely it works. I hope hatori will create another chapter or 2 on these 2 to learn more about her character. BTW is reiko really a princess or is that a nickname that the black magic club gave her for her ability to curse people?

How she fell in love with honey was truly beautiful. Her only friends is the black magic club but even with them she still seems rather closed off. With her association with the club and her powers, that must have scared off everyone around her. Then comes Honey who shows her kindness. Someone who was outside her circle of safety and that he actually smiled at her. An outsider was kind to her and I'm sure that the fact that he has happy vibes around him was part of the attraction. On top of it she doesn't mind his small stature at all!

On Honey's side of things; I think one of the reasons he grows found of her rather quickly is because she has characteristics that he admires. How she is devoted to winning his heart (aka getting her soul back) and the fact that she is unwilling to change herself despite caring about him. They may be polar opposites but when it comes to the deeper issues that move them, their on the same page. The core of honey's character is that he lives by the rule of being true to yourself and how reiko couldn't give up the  black magic club and stop doing curses is a part of who she is and I think that quality about her he really likes. At the end of chapter 70 he says that her obliviousness to the fact that she really loves him makes her really cute  in his eyes. A weakness they do share is that they both have a hard time of toning down their hobbies.

Even though honey is a VERY happy character he does sometimes go into the black honey mode and that side of him may have some more similarities with reiko if he should ever surface around her.

Oh I remember reading that story on ff.net! It's always nice to read it again ^__^ I wish their were more love out their for them in the fanfic community. I've been dieing to read a story about their first date especially since honey and her went to see a  chuckie movie. It would have been fun to see his reaction.

I really hope Hani asks Reiko out!! And I also hope that Hatori-san will finish Ouran with some sort of conclusion for this couple too!

Aww, that fanfic was adorable! I love how they make Hunny seem to grow in maturity when he's with Reiko <3

And the Reiko side of the relationship also kinda parallels Haruhi to Tamaki xD
Interesting to see Haruhi giving advice to Reiko about love lol!

I believe he did ask her out. In the last page of chapter 71-omake he tells mori that he basically has known what she wanted from him the whole time. He knows she lacks the courage to come right out and ask him. He has seen all the effort and trouble she has gone through to try to ask him. So he decides to ask her out to the theaters in stead ^__^

Haruhi and reiko are similar in both personality and their situations with their love interests.

Oh! I forgot to reply to a part of your earlier post regarding the continuation of the couple. Aside from the focus of any pairing with haruhi, hatori seems to put more emphasis on the reiko/honey side pairing than any other. She dedicated 2 full chapters to them. One was indeed an omake but she had reiko make a small appearances in the later chapters as a continuation. In the chapter where honey and mori are graduating you can see her in the background. On one page you see her worried over the honey vs. mori fight and in another you see nekosawa either receiving or giving a gift to honey with kanazuki looking at them in the background.

I like to think that reiko made or bought him a bunny since he loves usa-chan so much and had nekosawa give it to honey for her as a graduation gift since she probably was too shy to do so.

She's an interesting character, I thought that her relationship with Honey would be showed in more chapters but it didn't
